Meet Amy Howard MA, LPC-S
Clients often describe my presence as calming and supportive, noting that our work together has led to meaningful change. For some, this transformation came after years of therapy that offered insight but lacked actionable steps. EMDR is a powerful tool that provides clients with the resources to achieve lasting change.
I am trained in EMDR, the Gottman Method, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. Additionally, I regularly attend advanced training in Complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, and relationship dynamics.
Feel free to text me for a free 15-minute consultation at 512.221.4155. I believe that the compassion and self-awareness we develop impact our interactions and overall well-being. In our sessions, we'll work together to identify and overcome obstacles, helping you achieve your goals.
Social Justice Orientation
I aim to facilitate therapy from perspectives that promote inclusivity, affirmation, compassion, and liberation for the broadest range of people, with intentional acknowledgement that some groups have been uniquely impacted by persistent, historical, systemic marginalization.
As I learn to best live and practice from this perspective myself, I ask that clients be willing to acknowledge and learn from the impact of words from a wide variety of people, particularly when words or actions may directly or indirectly harm marginalized or targeted people.
This means I will call in clients who use language that may be harmful to marginalized people, whether the client knows members of potentially affected groups or not. I invite clients to provide me with similar feedback.
This requires purposeful compassion for ourselves and others, as we risk making mistakes and dare to challenge our preconceived views of people, life and the world.
